M. László Trócsányi
European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement
László Trócsányi (born in budapest on 6 March 1956) is a Hungarian jurist, constitutional judge, lawyer, diplomat, university professor and politician. He specializes in constitutional, European and comparative law.
He is Hungary’s Ambassador to Belgium (2000-2004), Hungarian Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (2000-2003) and Hungarian Ambassador to France (2010-2014).
He is also a member of the Venice Commission at the Council of Europe (2005-2013) and a member of the Hungarian Constitutional Court (2007-2010).
He was Hungarian Minister of Justice from 2014 to 2019, in the third and fourth governments of Viktor Orban. In 2019, he is appointed European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement in the Von der Leyen Commission.
