M. Bernard Valéro
Director-General of the « Agence des Villes et Territoires Méditerranéens durables » (Avitem)
Bernard VALERO, born on July 29, 1954, graduated from “Sciences Po” in Paris (1975) holds the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1977, where he successively held several positions: in the Directorate of Information and Press (1985-1987), Deputy Consul General in Quebec City (1988-1990), in the Directorate of Economic and Financial Affairs (1990-1992). He was then successively press advisor in Madrid (1992-1995) then in Washington (1995-1998), Deputy Director, Deputy Spokesperson for Communication and Information (2000-2003), Consul General in Barcelona (2003-2006), Ambassador in Skopje (2006-2009), Director of Communications and spokesperson for the Quai d’Orsay (2009-2012).
Bernard VALERO was awarded the rank of Knight in the French Legion of Honour, of Officer in the French National Order of Merit, Knight of the Academic Palms, Grand Officer of the Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic (Spain) and Grand Cross of the Order of the Crown of Belgium.
Since 2015 Bernard Valero is the Director General of AVITEM in Marseille.
