Dr. Benedict Oramah

Prof. Benedict Oramah holds since 1991 a doctorate in agricultural economics and was appointed in 2018 Professor of International Trade and Finance by Adeleke University, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious private universities. He worked as Deputy Director of Research for the Nigerian Export-Import Bank from 1992 to 1994, before joining the African Export-Import Bank as Chief Analyst in 1994 and serving as Senior Director of the Department of Planning and development in 2007. He was then appointed Executive Vice President. President of the Bank in October 2008, a position he held until his appointment as President in June 2015 at the 22nd Annual General Meeting in Lusaka, Zambia.
Prof. Oramah has been a regular speaker at UNCTAD’s annual conference on oil and gas in Africa since 1995. He has also participated in several conferences on trade finance, notably in London. Prof. Oramah wrote more than 30 articles on a range of economic and trade issues in Africa, many of which have been published in international journals.
