DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The development Oued Martil Valley project consists in creating an integrated urban development on the site of a valley formerly subject to flooding, and extends over a surface of approximately 2000 hectares and a length of 18.3 km.
The project is part of a reconciliation approach between the Valley and the city and has 3 main goals:
- The protection of the city of Tetouan and the plain of Martil against floods that may occur due to the widening of the Valley section
- Purification of Oued Martil
- Regeneration of activities on the banks of the Oued Martil aiming at a social, environmental, economic and urban impact.
LEADERS OF THE PROJECT
Established by Decree No. 2-14-532 of 1 August 2014, the Société d’Aménagement de la Vallée de l’Oued Martil, by abbreviation (STAVOM.SA) was founded in March 2015 with a capital of 480 million Dhs, in order to develop the plain into an area that would foster convergence and conviviality.
Green financing for flood protection: EUR 60 million

- Area suitable for development: 1600 ha
The Oued Martil valley development project is part of a territorial development perspective, its aim being to trigger economic and social activity in the immediate space.
The Oued Martil valley development project aims to effectively link the city of Tetouan with the Mediterranean by creating a navigable river link.
The project is currently in its operational phase: The recalibration of the wadi and urban development are underway and the process of land remediation is well advanced for stage 1 of the project.
