DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
BabylonGardens designs and develops patented solutions that are ultralight and economical with regard to water use, adapted to the Mediterranean environment, for the conversion of private and public urban structures into centres of sustainability, transforming buildings within the urban area into green, energy efficient spaces, able to host biodiversity and reduce environmental pressures for residents.
The project, for a duration of two years (24 calendar months) is estimated at a total cost of €866,000
Funding requirement: The total project cost is to be secured through a combination of three sources:
- Public financing for startup and innovative companies: 40% (approx. €350,000 over two years)
- Incentives for the employment of youth and unemployed labour, and re-insertion programmes: 20% (approx. 180,000 over two years)
- Private equity (Investor) 40% (approx. €350,000 over two years)
Focus on industrial design and development of production processes; Launch a pan-Mediterranean campaign to establish its presence in the markets of Southern Europe, North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean, collaborating with local distributors, installers, and landscapers.
The general aim of BabylonGardens is to “democratise” the installation of urban green spaces throughout the Mediterranean region, proposing its ultralight and economic solutions in terms of water requirements, which are also inexpensive and easy to install, while creating jobs at the local level, related to greening of the urban environment and promoting the resilience of cities, saving energy, and reducing plastic waste through the use of recycled materials.
BabylonGardens has established an exclusive collaboration agreement with Anagnostou SA, the largest producer of substrates in Greece for the licensed production and distribution of its substrate, and with Nevana Designs in England for the exclusive distribution in the south-eastern Mediterranean of photoluminescent landscaping.
